Your Body Didn't Break. The Reason Nothing's Working Isn't What You Think.

Most programs are still treating your body like it’s 30. It isn’t — and that’s exactly why the scale won’t budge. The Platinum Program is built around what actually changes after 40, with a custom plan most women have never been given access to.

Home Workouts vs Gym After 40: The Real Question

Dumbbells and resistance band on a living room rug ready for a home workout

If you are weighing up home workouts vs the gym after 40, here is the short answer. Neither one wins. The best place to train is the one where you actually show up, week after week.

Around 80% of the women I coach work out from home. And there is one worry that comes up again and again, with an ongoing debate sitting behind it. Which actually gets better results, home or the gym?

Here is the truth. That is the wrong question, and asking it is quietly keeping you stuck.

What I learned on my living room carpet

Home works. I know because I lived it.

During the pandemic, when every gym was closed, I had two little pink dumbbells and a resistance band in my living room. And I got into one of the best shapes of my life right there on my carpet. So when a woman tells me she cannot get results at home, I stop her gently. It simply is not true.

Why I went straight back to the gym anyway

The moment gyms reopened, I went straight back. Not because home stopped working. Because being around other women lifting hard pushes me further than I ever push myself alone.

That is me. It might not be you. And that is the point.

So which is better, home or the gym?

Both. And neither.

The best place to train is not the one with the most equipment. It is the one where you actually show up, week after week. Consistency beats equipment every single time.

That is the piece most women miss while they are busy comparing setups. You can have the better plan on paper and still finish the year exactly where you started, because the plan on paper is not the one you did.

What actually decides your results after 40

Location is the smallest variable in this. Three things matter far more, and you can do all three in a living room or a leisure center.

Lifting heavy enough to be challenged

Most women over 40 have been handed light weights and high reps for years, and it is the wrong prescription. Your muscle only changes when the last couple of reps feel genuinely hard. Whatever you train with, the weight has to go up over time, or the reps do, or the tempo slows down. That progression is the work.

Eating enough of the right food

You cannot build muscle out of thin air. Protein at every meal, and enough food overall, is what allows your body to respond to the training you are doing. Undereating is one of the most common reasons a woman trains hard for months and sees nothing change.

Recovery that is treated as part of the plan

Sleep, rest days, and stress are not the soft part of this. After 40 they are the part that decides whether your body adapts or just stays tired. Two or three solid strength sessions a week that you recover from will beat six frantic ones you never recover from.

None of that is affected by whether there is a reception desk involved.

The question to ask instead

So ask yourself one honest question. Where will I actually show up for the next 12 weeks?

Not where you should go. Not where a more disciplined version of you would go. Where you will genuinely turn up, given your real life and your real week.

That answer, not the equipment, is where you begin.

You were never meant to do this on your own

And wherever you land, you should not do it alone.

More than half the women who answer our surveys tell us the same thing. They have gotten results before and could not hold on to them. They know how to start. Starting has never been the problem.

What breaks is not desire. It is doing it on your own, on the ordinary days, when nobody notices whether you trained or not.

This is why I built our completely free community, Strong Women After 40. Come and ask your questions, share your wins, and stand alongside thousands of women in the very same season of life.

Whether it is home, the gym, or a mix of both, the women who succeed all have one thing in common. They do not do it alone.

Come and find your people inside Strong Women After 40.
